Broadband Mechanics (BBM), founded by Marc Canter, is a leading supplier of white label social networking and blogging platforms. The company is a leader in open standards for social networking, and the notion of ‘inter-connecting’ social networks and blogs’ together. We target our products at on-line vendors and brands who wish to get into the ‘Web 2.0’ game by providing compelling experiences to THEIR customers.
BBM brings 'social web' features to existing web sites or builds autonomous platforms to spec. Through the usage of social networking APIs, BBM's platform - PeopleAggregator - can enable traditional web sites and portals to embrace users, sharing and community based activities or provide a stand alone 'Facebook-in-a-Box' - white labled to the requirements of our customers.
BBM was founded in January, 2005 based upon over 13 years of previous contiguous intellectual property, product research and development work, experience, know how and compunction by Marc Canter.
PeopleAggregator is the name of the company's framework platform which is available in source code form, as well as utilized for the company's SaaS (software-as-a-service) offerings. The company also offers fully hosted stand alone social networks as well at PeopleAggregator.net.
PeopleAggregator is an DLA (digital lifestyle aggregator) and is based upon the principle of open standards connecting social neworks and blogging systems together. The PeopleAggregator's social networking APIs enable any software product, service or web site to become 'social' - to add the basic building blocks or social networking and blogging.
Through the combination of Marc's consulting and leadership, the product's openness and APIs and through the support of OpenID and other open standards - BBM is showing how social networking is becoming a commodity and how ALL software of the future will be social.
