Broadband Mechanics News

BBM’s end of the year release.

Marc went and created a viral press release, using his blog as a way to get the message out to the world. Take a look at this post and find out about: what we’ve been up to, what sites are live and how we see 2008 unfolding. Most of all BBM wishes to thank our customers, friends and colleagues in helping to build the distributed web. BTW This announcement post was then picked up and was #3 on Techmeme.com for a while. So then Marc responded to that -too. #

Brian Colbert named President of BBM.

Brian who has been working on bizdev and legal affairs is just the kind of guy we feel comfortable with handing the keys to the Kingdom. Brian was a Wall St. lawyer, Univ. of Chicago law school, several years in startups and taught in Turkey. So he brings the kind of varied background and experience we need to start to flesh out the BBM exec team. #

Lots of ways to get social networking working for you:

  • have us host your own stand alone social network
  • isolate any specific social network feature and include it into your existing software offerings
  • create a mashup utilizing our web service APIs with other APIs and/or platforms
  • license some or all of our source code to run and build your own offering yourself
Key features:

APIs and Widgetization
PeopleAggregator has two kinds of APIs and a methodology for plugging in our user interfaces into any parallel codebase, web site or legacy system.  We bring social features to any kind of software application, service or mashup

Personal pages
PeopleAggregator provides Public pages - which can display different content to different page viewers and Private pages - which act as 'dashboards' for every member.

Blogging
PeopleAggregator has a myriad of blogging formats available, including podcasting, vlogging, reviews, events and people oriented showcases.  Every Network gets a blog, every Group has a blog and every Member has a blog and can route their blog posts throughout the system and to their external blogs - as well.  And external blog tools can post INTO PeopleAggregator.

Groups
Members or Network operators can create Groups, which have their own Blog, Media Gallery, Message Board forum and Events. Groups can be tagged and are the way that humans can 'cluster' together on their own.

Meta-Networks (hosted networks)
Every copy of PeopleAggregator is it's own meta-network - which means it's a network of networks. You can host social networks for your customers, employees or just about anybody. All of the source code you need to build your own meta-network platform is available.

Broadband Mechanics supports OpenID and other open standard formats, including the upcoming Attribute Exchange data exchange feature.
